Village Greens Golf Course
#1 Village Greens
Village Greens starts off with a long dogleg right Par 5. There is a large pond along the right side up to the corner. It takes a pretty big drive to cut the corner and there is in course OB if you go to the right of the pond. A good drive down the right side to the corner will set up your second shot straight down the fairway. There are a couple of fairway traps on both sides at about 140 yards. The green is protected on the left by a bunker.
#2 Village Greens
Hole #2 is a fairly straight Par 4. If you are playing from the middle tees, be careful of the right side. The pond that you just played next to on the first hole is only about 210 yards off of the tee, very reachable if your drive leaks to the right. The approach will be into a large green that is slightly elevated so if you don’t land it on the green, it may come up short.
#3 Village Greens
The 3rd hole is a classic risk-reward Par 4. The green is reachable for big hitters but it is heavily protected by sand traps around the green and grass bunkers short left. A drive hit too far right gets into tree trouble. The smart player will not go for the green and land their drive down the right side which will make for the easiest approach into this green.
#4 Village Greens
Hole 4 is the first of back to back Par 3’s. This green is protected on the right side by a large grass bunker. There is OB over the green. The green slopes down from back to front so make sure to hit enough club to get to the pin on this hole.
#5 Village Greens
Hole 5 is a short Par 3 with a pond in front of the green. There is a bail out area to the right. Make sure to check the wind on this hole, it looks very short from the tee and I have watched many shots not make this green. Anything short of the green usually ends up in the pond.
#6 Village Greens
Number 6 is a longer, dogleg left Par 4. There is a pond at the left corner. A good drive here is down the left side to the corner. If you are too far right, it will leave you with a very long approach into this green. The driving range is way right and OB on this hole. If you hit a good drive, you will have an easy approach to a green that only has a grass bunker on the left side.
#7 Village Greens
Hole 7 is the 2nd Par 5 on the front nine. This Par 5 bends slightly to the left. A good drive is the key to this hole. Trees and grass bunkers line both sides of the fairway. Try to hit your 2nd shot down the left center of the fairway. There is a large sand trap on the right side of this green.
#8 Village Greens
This Par 3 is very challenging if the pin is anywhere on the right side of the green. The green is very long from left to right and narrow from front to back. It is guarded by a large sand trap on the right side. Check the wind and club selection here!
#9 Village Greens
Hole 9 is another short Par 4 that will tempt the big hitters to go for the green. There are fairway bunkers on both sides in the landing area. If you do try for the green, beware of the deep grass bunker on the front right of this green. A smart play is to lay off and play down the middle. A drive down to the bunkers will leave you with a short approach to this green.
#10 Village Greens
The back nine starts out with a straightaway Par 4. There are some grass bunkers and mounds down both sides of the fairway. A drive down the middle will leave you with an easy approach to the green. There is no trouble around the green.
#11 Village Greens
The 11th hole is another short Par 3 over a pond. There is some room on the left to bail out but it is a large green with no sand around it. Pick the right club and this hole will be no problem.
#12 Village Greens
The 12th hole is a little deceiving from the tee. It looks like a good drive is down the right side, but you really want to be left. There is a large bunker on the right side of the green. If you end up on the right side of the fairway, you will not be able to see the green behind the trap. The green sits lower than the sand trap and it is hard to see exactly where the pin is from this spot. A drive down the left side will give you a much easier approach to this green.
#13 Village Greens
Tucked into the base of the bluffs, 13 and 14 are the best holes at Village Greens. Hole 13 is a long Par 4 with a pond down the right side. There is a fairway bunker on the left so a straight drive is required on this hole. If you hit a good drive on this hole, you will be rewarded with an easy approach to a green that has no traps around it.
#14 Village Greens
This Par 4 is the best hole on the course. If you are hitting the driver good, you can carry the corner of the pond and leave yourself with a short approach to the green. If you want to play it safe, aim to the left of the large Pine tree. This green is protected by a grass bunker on the right side. Most shots that land left of the green will kick down to the right and end up in good shape.
#15 Village Greens
The 15th hole is a straightaway Par 5. There is a pond along the right side in the landing area. A good drive is down the left side of the fairway. There is no sand on this hole but some mounding and a grass bunker on the right side of the green.
#16 Village Greens
Hole 16 is another short Par 3. There is a large sand trap in front of the green, so make sure to have enough club to get there. The green is very long from left to right so 3 putts are common from the wrong side of the green.
#17 Village Greens
Number 17 is a straightaway Par 4. Beware of a drive down the right side. There is a pond about 210 yards off of the tee on the right. You cannot see this pond from the tee box. A good drive is down the left side of the fairway. The pond on the right can come into play again on your approach if the pin is in the back right of the green.
#18 Village Greens
The finishing hole at Village Greens is a short Par 4. Like 17, there is a pond that is not visible from the tee. The green is slightly left from the fairway so standing on the tee you will try to go down the left side. Stay right, there is a pond about 210 yards from the tee on the right. With a drive down the right side, you will be able to avoid the pond and a large grass bunker complex on the left front of the green.
Village Greens Golf Course Conditions & Review
The course at Village Greens is very popular in Kalispell. It does get a lot of play but the course is always in great shape. The greens roll smooth and in mid-May, the greens were rolling at 9 on the Stimpmeter.
The roughs are mowed at a lower height so play is usually fast and the course is fun to play. Better players will find this course to be fairly easy but enjoyable. Village Greens is consistently one of the best-maintained courses in the Flathead Valley.
